HONEY DIETS

For honey diets it is recommended to use dark multi-flower honey because this kind of honey is highly bio-active and has a light diuretic effect.  It also stimulates the flow of bile which is very important when you are dieting because bile breaks up fat cells.

Two Week Honey Diet

This is a very simple honey diet that will help you to lose 4-12 pounds in two weeks. During this period you can eat only honey, low-fat diary products, boiled non-starch vegetables, citruses, berries and drink sour drinks. As you can see the list of foods is long enough to make a nice menu for every day. Follow these simple guide lines:
  • Every day eat 1 tea spoon of honey before breakfast, lunch and dinner.
  • Eat 200g of vegetables once a day for lunch.
  • Eat 200g of berries a day.
  • Do not drink more that 3/4 L of any juice a day.
  • Drink tea and mineral water without limitation.
  • Eat 5 times a day.
A 3-Day Honey Diet with Eggs

You can lose 4-6 pounds in only 3 days following this diet.

1st day
Breakfast: 2 whipped egg yolks with 1 tea spoon of honey, tea with lemon or cofee.
Lunch: 34 oz of cheese, tea or cofee with 1 tea spoon of honey.
Dinner: 1 cup of broth (clear soup), 1 slice of dark bread and 1 apple or 1 pear or 1 orange.
Before you go to bed: tea with lemon.

2nd day
Breakfast: the same as 1st day
Lunch: 1 egg with honey, 100 g of cottage cheese and tea with lemon or coffee.
Dinner: 150 g of fish or chicken filet, small bowl of vegetable salad and tea with lemon.

3rd day
Breakfast: the same as 1st day plus 1 apple.
Lunch: 50 g of cheese, 1 slice of rye bread and a bowl of fresh vegetables with lemon juice.
Dinner: 300 g of boiled vegetables, 1 egg and tea with 1 spoon of honey.

Additionally, every day eat a half of lemon.

A 10-Day Honey Diet with Kefir or Yogurt

This diet is pretty strict but easy to follow and gives great results. Kefir is a cultured milk with live bacteria and enzymes that help to balance your "inner ecosystem." More nutritious and therapeutic than yogurt, it supplies complete protein, essential minerals, and valuable B vitamins. You can buy kefir from Natural Food stores and some supermarkets.

1st day
Breakfast: Tea with 1 tea spoon of honey and nuts, lemon or raisins.
Lunch: Your usual meal.
Snack: One orange or grapefruit.
Dinner: 1% fat kefir or yogurt

2nd day
Breakfast: tea with honey.
Lunch: your usual meal.
Snack and dinner: 1% fat kefir or yogurt.

3rd day
Breakfast: tea with honey.
Lunch, snack and dinner: 1% fat kefir or yogurt.

4th day
Drink tea with honey 4 times a day .

5th day
Drink low fat kefir or yogurt 4 times a day.

6th to 10th days: repeat all days in a reverse order, from the 5th to the 1st day.

3 Day Detox with Honey and Lemons

You will need 1.5 L of non-sparkling mineral water, 8 lemons, 2-3 table spoons of honey and 1-2 tea spoons of red hot pepper.

Squeeze the lemon juice, add honey and pepper and stir the mix very well. Drink the whole amount of the mix during the day. Additionally, you can drink green tea and water. The maximum length of the detox  is 3 days. You will not feel weak because honey will nourish your body, hot pepper improves blood circulation and lemon juice helps to get rid of toxins.

During these 3 days it is recommended to take cleansing baths to help to remove toxins: add 1/4 - 1/2 pack of baking soda or add 40-50 ml of essential oil of grapefruit, lemon or orange to a bath tub filled with warm water.
Warning: Do not try the detox if you have any serious health problems. Do not forget to consult your doctor before you start any diet or detox program.
Health Benefits of Honey

Honey has been utilized for generations as a healthy supplement as well as a healing agent. It makes a great sweetener for coffee, tea and cereal and is a rich source of nutrients that can provide a person with a lot of energy and even aid digestion. It can also be applied to the skin as a healing agent and beauty aid. Let us take a look at the multitude of uses that honey has.

What Honey Contains:

Honey is mostly made up of carbohydrates, sugar and water which is why it is such a potent source of energy. It also contains the following beneficial vitamins and minerals:

  • Niacin
  • Riboflavin
  • Pantothenic acid
  • Calcium
  • Copper
  • Iron
  • Magnesium
  • Phosphorus
  • Potassium
  • Zinc

Honey is also laden with beneficial antioxidants such as flavonoids and phenolic acids which can help get rid of free radicals and boost our immune system. It also contains beneficial enzymes along with other phytonutrients.

Honey as a healer

The antioxidant capability of honey gives it the power to help us recover from wounds better by boosting our immune system. Ingesting Honeys can also help our digestion. Research has shown that enzymes in honey enhance the growth and viability of bifidobacteria (beneficial bacteria) along the same lines as yogurt. Honey has also been used to soothe sore throats because of its anti-inflammatory properties.

Honey has also been applied to burns and wounds for centuries because of its antiseptic properties. The glucose and fructose content of honey causes the substance to attract water. When applied to a wound, it dries it out and inhibits the growth of bacteria and fungi. On top of that, raw honey also contains an enzyme called glucose oxidase. When this enzyme combines with the attracted water, it produces hydrogen peroxide which serves as a mild antiseptic.

Honey and looking good

There is a good reason that honey can be found as an ingredient in so many beauty products. It contains a lot of vitamins, minerals and amino acids that can make your skin and hair healthy and shiny. Additionally, if you take honey as a supplement over a period of time it will began to give you a radiant glow and even help you look younger by reducing wrinkles. Honey is a natural skin cleanser and moisturizing agent making it a favorite ingredient in many beauty salons. It also helps exfoliate and renew the skin cell, making the skin softer and more youthful looking.

How to take honey as a health supplement

You can take a teaspoon of honey first thing in a morning before breakfast. You may also take Royal Jelly and propolis along with the honey. These  are byproducts of honey that are prized by saloons for their ability to give you a healthy glow as well as athletes who benefit from the added energy boost.
